How did you get on with the salsa steps? If you’ve mastered that then it’s now time to work on the calypso.

Forget the snow/rain/wind and storms outside and get moving in your living room with Zumba Education Specialist Donna Giffen’s video guides to basic Zumba® steps.

Zumba® Fitness classes are an increasingly popular way to get fit and these clips can help you practice the moves at home.

If you want to get fit for summer then this new dance craze is the perfect way to shape up.

Before you get ready to calypso, make sure you do a five minute warm-up.

Today’s move is the calypso basic and the music is sure to put a smile on your face on a cold winter day.

In the video player above, Donna demonstrates the calypso, which involves unleashing your inner rock god/goddess and performing a drum playing movement – watch the video and it will all become clear.

The important thing to remember about Zumba® Fitness is that you don’t have to be a master of dance or the king or queen of co-ordination to work out.

As Donna explains, it’s about adding your own ‘flavour’ to the basic steps.

Donna has also demonstrated how to perfect the meringue and salsa in previous clips so there’s plenty for you to enjoy.

Post exercise, remember to cool down and finish with some stretches for the main muscle groups including legs, chest back and arms.
