It’s one of the most talked-about movies of the summer, and this week Grant Lauchlan takes a look at exactly why animated caper Brave has made such a huge impact, ahead of its release on Friday.
In a Moviejuice special on the Disney/Pixar tale, STV film buff Grant goes behind the magic to meet some of the big name stars who have helped catapult Brave to global recognition.
Chatting to the likes of Kelly Macdonald who plays the female lead of Merida, and Robbie Coltrane, who takes on the role of the cantankerous Lord Dingwall, Grant will be finding out what it is that makes Brave one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of 2012.
Telling the story of feisty flame-haired lead Merida, who refuses to follow an age-old custom in favour of carving her own path in life - causing uproar in the Kingdom – the movie captures the spirit of girl power, and ultimately what it takes to make brave choices in life.
Brave breaks with tradition with the animated tale featuring the Pixar’s first lead female character.
Set in mythical Scotland, the film is also expected to raise Scotland’s profile around the world and provide a huge boost to the country’s economy.
Moviejuice: Brave Special is on STV on Wednesday August 1 at 7.30pm. Brave hits cinemas this Friday in Scotland, before being released to other audiences across the UK from August 13.
