Walliams backs Rebecca Adlington in twitter row with Frankie Boyle

Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams has spoken out to give his backing to Rebecca Adlington following her twitter row with Frankie Boyle.

The controversial Scots comedian had insulted the Olympic champion through a post on the social networking platform.

He told his followers: "I worry that Rebecca Adlington will have an unfair advantage in the swimming by possessing a dolphin's face."

Frankie decided to remove the offensive post from his profile.

Walliams said that he was "disappointed" that Boyle had chosen to mock the double gold medal winner.

David tweeted: "I have met and spoken on the `phone to double Olympic Gold Medal swimmer Rebecca Adlington.

And she is a beautiful woman, inside and out it is disappointing that anyone would want to be mean about her appearance."

He added: "Rebecca's an absolute inspiration, and a really lovely lady. Let's get behind all our Team GB athletes now!"
