American Idol will undergo a big shake-up after it was announced judge Steven Tyler won’t be returning to the singing show.
It also looks like Jennifer Lopez is planning on making an exit, with the Latino star tellling the Today show in the US that “it’s time for me to go”.
Steven announced he was quitting after issuing a statement that said he wanted to focus on putting all his energy back into making music with his band Aerosmith.
"After some long hard thoughts, I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit," the statement read.
"I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back - but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I've got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious a** - the ultimate in auditory takeover.
"Idol was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it... Now it's time to bring rock back."
Jen – nicknamed J-Lo – told Natalie Morales on the Today show on Thursday that she too wanted to put her focus on music, with the star currently performing in her world tour.
“I signed on American Idol to do one year and I wound up doing two years,” the star said.
“I have to say that there are so many other things that I do and that I put on a hold for that,” she explained, before adding: “It’s time for me to go.”
It’s not entirely clear at the moment if Jen has officially quit the show – but it seems quite clear that she’s seriously considering it.
Their departure would mean just one judge remains on the panel – American Idol veteran Randy Jackson – who is also rumoured to be considering quitting the show.
Cheryl Cole has already been rumoured to be joining the show - could we now see the Geordie babe join up to The X Factor USA's main rival? Only time will tell!
