Coronation Street star Alison King is to take a four-month break from the Weatherfield drama.
The actress, who plays Carla Connor, plans to spend her hiatus from the soap with boyfriend Adam Huckett and daughter Daisy Mae.
King told Soaplife: "It's three years since I had a baby and I've been working for all of that time so I haven't been able to spend too much time with my family.
"I plan to have a nice holiday and spend time at home getting jobs done on the house, all very normal stuff."
Alison insists she loves playing the Underworld Factory owner and will return to filming on October 1.
Chris Gascoyne, who plays Carla's boyfriend Peter Barlow, is also to take a break from the soap to spend some time with his family.
After the announcement Gascoye said: "You don't get a rest because there's no end to this show and when you have got big storyline after big storyline you get very tired and you're not really on top of your work.
"So much so I just needed a break to refresh myself and then come back and I'll be fine."
Carla and Peter will be seen by viewers leaving the country, but it is uncertain whether they will take Peter's son Simon with them.
