One Direction star Zayn Malik revealed he once had a startling effect on one of his fans.

Zayn is currently touring the US with his bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne.

One fan was so excited to meet her 19-year-old idol that she ended up fainting.

Zayn told the Daily Mirror: "I was at a signing and a few girls were walking past, two were walking together.

"One reached out to touch my hand and after that she just passed out.

"She was gone, cold, on the floor."

The girl's friend was to focused on making the most of her time with the band to check if her pal was ok.

Malik said: "Her friend just left her on the floor and carried on taking pictures.

"I was shocked."
