Following the departure of Kelly Rowland, Nicole Scherzinger has been confirmed as the new X Factor Judge.
The former Pussycat Doll is no stranger to the talent series, having been a Guest Judge in 2010 and again this year, at the London auditions, not to mention her stint on the US judging panel.
Now, after weeks of speculation, show bosses have confirmed Nicole will join Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa on this year’s show.
The delighted star said: “I’m so excited to join the UK X Factor family. It's where I got my start, so it feels great to come full circle. I can’t wait to see what talent the UK has to offer and to help inspire and bring out the best in these artists.”
Peter Fincham, Director of Television, ITV, says: “Nicole will bring her wealth of experience, both as a solo artist, and as a member of a group, to this year's Judging panel. We're delighted that she'll be joining us for the forthcoming series.”
Nicole will get straight to work, taking up her new role this Monday (June 18) when the auditions roll into Newcastle.
She will then join her new colleagues in Cardiff for the final date of the tour on June 25.
Ms Scherzinger clearly has an eye for talent, as she was involved in X Factor when One Direction was formed.
She told Now magazine that she helped Simon Cowell see the potential in Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, who originally auditioned as solo artists in 2010.
She is quoted as saying: "Oh yeah, I helped him out so much when I came on that show.
"I practically put One Direction together with my hands tied behind my back - just joking!”
