Coronation Street's Tyrone Dobbs is in for even harder times ahead, according to series producer Phil Collinson.
Tyrone (Alan Halsall) has been the victim of domestic abuse at the hands of his pregnant girlfriend Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede).
Collinson has admitted that things will not improve over then next few weeks, as the plot gets even darker.
Speaking at the BAFTAs, he told What's On TV: "Natalie, the Weatherfield basher has got a big story coming up this summer.
"Let's just say Tyrone's going to be well bruised."
At the award ceremony Coronation Street won the award for best soap and continuing drama.
Phil admitted he did not expect to win, saying: "It's always a surprise because you don't allow yourself to think you've won or you'd just go home disappointed."
Meanwhile, Collinson revealed that he was not a fan of The Only Way Is Essex.
He confessed: "I don't understand them, I don't know how they're made. I don't know why people watch them, but I applaud them for being so popular."
