It's official! Britney Spears and Demi Lovato confirmed as judges on X Factor USA

Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are both to join X Factor USA as judges on the new series of the hit singing show, it has been confirmed.

Rumours had circulated for weeks about who was to join the panel, with Britney and Demi’s names mentioned several times.

And yesterday the whisperings were confirmed, as pop princess Spears and Disney darling Demi stepped out alongside existing judges Simon Cowell and record producer L.A. Reid, for the unveiling of the new panel in New York.

Toxic singer Britney said that she’s delighted to be joining the show. "I couldn't be more excited to join The X Factor judging panel,” she said at the Fox Upfronts event.

“I'm a huge fan of the show and now I get to be a part of the action. Simon and L.A. better watch out!"

Actress and singer Demi added: "I'm so thrilled to join this legendary group of judges. To be able to spend each week with Simon, L.A. and Britney watching the best that America has to offer is truly a dream come true."

Simon certainly seems pleased with his new recruits too, who take over the spots left by previous judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul.

"I'm absolutely delighted Britney and Demi are joining us,” he said, “Britney remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she's talented, fascinating – and I believe she knows exactly how to spot The X Factor.

“Demi's had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age. She's young, confident, and enthusiastic. I think it’s really important that she speaks to our younger audience. The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes we are making to the show.”

The winner of this year’s show, which is set to return in the autumn, will win a recording contract with Syco/Sony Music worth a whopping $5 million. Find out more from www.thexfactorusa.com.
