After thousands of hopefuls auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent this year the judges whittled it down to 45 acts for the semi-finals, and only 11 on tonight’s final. But it was one gal and her prancing pooch who walked away with the Britain’s Got Talent crown after voters got on the dog and bone to make them this year’s winners.
All their dogged determination paid off when Ashleigh and Pudsey were crowned winners of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, with opera duo Johnathan and Charlotte coming second and Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud in third place.
The dedicated dynamos battled it out with fellow finalists Sam Kelly, Ryan O’Shaughnessy, Nu Sxool, Only Boys Aloud, Molly Rainford, Loveable Rogues, Jonathan and Charlotte, Kai and Natalia, and Aquabatique as well as wild card act The Mend.
A tearful Ashleigh said: “I want to say a massive thank you to everyone that voted for me, I’m so proud of Pudsey it means so much!”
Self confessed dog lover Simon said: “My life’s work is now complete… this has been my favourite year.”
A delighted Amanda Holden then reminded the head judge that he had promised to dance with Pudsey if the dynamic duo won the show.
Everyone’s favourite doggie duo certainly proved they were best in show after a movie style performance earlier in the night.
Defying the age old phrase you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, they have performed a new routine for each stage of the competition.
Dressed in a silver and black unitard Ashleigh and Pudsey flew down to the stage from the ceiling earlier in the night with a Mission Impossible themed performance that included stunts through tunnels, see-saws and even a parade over the judges’ table!
David told them: “the nation loves you and Pudsey. I think you are the ones to beat.” Alesha agreed and praised the example they set against animal cruelty.
Top dog er we mean judge, Simon said:” One of my favourite acts, because I love animals.” He added: “What you did in such as short time is a miracle.”
Ashleigh and Pudsey have taken the nation by storm after their initial Flintstones themed audition. Simon was delighted with their pawfect routine.
“You know me, I love a dancing dog,” he told Ashleigh. “Pudsey’s one of the best dancing dogs I’ve ever seen.”
This was followed by another top performance in the semi-finals which got two paws up and a standing ovation from the judges.
