Britain’s Got Talent hopefuls Jonathan and Charlotte delighted the crowds with a stunning performance of the song that first catapulted them to overnight recognition, during tonight’s tense final.
The singing duet chose to sing The Prayer once again, after previously wowing audiences with the classical hit during the audition stage of the contest.
And Jonathan and Charlotte didn’t disappoint, and they returned to the stage for one final time.
Wearing a full-length white gown with sequined embellishment, Charlotte Jaconelli, 16, looked stunning as she opened the song, before Jonathan Antoine – who looked handsome dressed in a black suit – joined in with his powerful vocals.
Receiving a standing ovation from the judges, the pair looked delighted as they awaited the feedback from the panel.
David Walliams told Charlotte and Jonathan: “Well congratulations. I think Ashleigh and Pudsey have some competition! Guys that was sensational. Ever since we saw you on the show you’ve been superstars, and that was your best performance yet. It was so heartfelt, it was so professional. We love you both, you’re both fantastic and I think you’re going to do very well tonight.”
Alesha Dixon added: “I want to hear that again, that was so amazing. You look the part tonight.”
She added: “If f you’re singing like that in this age can you imagine what you’re going to be like?”
Amanda Holden was just as impressed, continuing: “Just ridiculous, just absolutely ridiculously good. I’m running out of words!”
Simon Cowell then referred to the fact Jonathan refused to ditch Charlotte from the act, following his own advice, adding: “Unbelievable. It made me realise with you two not only are you talented but your loyalty and friendship is with makes this act so special, and you are lucky to have each other.”
Charlotte and Jonathan have been tipped as the hot favourites to win tonight’s grand final, with bookmakers offering odds around the country that the teen singing duo will walk away champions.
