Aquabatique are hoping to become the first synchronised swimming group to make it through to the Britain’s Got Talent final and they certainly caused a splash with their semi-final performance tonight.
The judges looked on in delight as Emily, Zoe, Elizabeth and Jazmine completed their mesmerising synchronised routine, outside, to a James Bond medley.
David Walliams, who had aqua-bats at his wedding, said: “That was all the things I love: swimming, James Bond and skimpy gold outfits. I’ve always wanted to do synchronised swimming but there’s no men doing it... Simon?”
Alesha Dixon gushed: “I think you’re brilliant. You’re an inspiration to people and I would love to see you go through.”
Amanda Holden added: “I couldn’t agree more with Alesha. It was absolutely fabulous. You’ve got great figures... the choreography was great.”
And Simon Cowell rounded off the praise by telling the water babes: “I thought it was absolutely brilliant. I know how difficult this is.... I loved the songs. I’m having one of these built in my house so if you don’t win you can come and live in my aquarium.” Now there’s an offer…
The water wonders are desperate to make it through to Saturday night’s final as well as using the prize money to treat their parents, they dream of bringing something different to the Royal Variety Performance.
They said: “The Royal Variety Performance is the ultimate stage for a British act and would be such a dream for us. We are such a unique act and our performance medium of water would bring something completely different to the Royal Variety Performance.
“We have all competed for our country in the past and it would be such an honour to perform for the royal family and possibly even get to meet the queen!”
Will the swimming sensations’ Royal hopes be realised or were they fish out of water tonight?
