Britain’s Got Talent: The Zimmers are Sexy and the judges Know It with hilarious performance

Well, people of a certain age singing and dancing to LMFAO’s Sexy and I Know It isn’t something you see everyday, but perhaps it should be if tonight’s performance by The Zimmers is anything to go by.

Kicking off with Who Wants to Live Forever, the young at heart bunch removed cloaks to reveal bright outfits that would put Goldie Lookin Chain to shame.

We especially liked when one lovely lady showed off the back of her hoodie, which read “Simon call me.”

The 15 strong OAP pop band, who describe their influences as Rock and Roll and Punk, found a place in the judges hearts when they first auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent and tonight they stepped it up a notch with a high energy routine that had Simon Cowell and co. grinning.

David Walliams joked: “Zimmers that was a really fantastic start to the show. It would be great to have you in the final. I don’t know what will happen with the voting but you’ve got your whole life ahead of you!”

Alesha Dixon had nothing but praise for the pensioners as she told them: “ Zim Zimmers. I absolutely love you. Totally down with the kids. Love the bling. I think my nan wants to join you. You’re inspirational.”

And Amanda Holden couldn’t have agreed more as she said: “It was absolutely a brilliant start to the show, you’re an inspiration to us all.”

Simon said: “Um… look there were a few problems… but I absolutely adore you guys. There are so many people in a bad mood at the moment in this world and you lot come on and brighten it up.”

The cheeky judge then added that Amanda would be joining the group if things don’t work out for her in a few years. This didn’t exactly go down too well with Ms H!

The Zimmers formed four years ago as part of a BBC2 Documentary called Power to the people – The Great Granny Chart Invasion.

They are desperate to prove that being a pensioner is not about ‘sitting around and waiting to die.'

The Zimmers admitted that winning BGT 2012 would be a dream come true as they are big fans of the Queen and would love to rock out at the Royal Variety Performance.

They said: “It can’t get any better than performing in front of Royalty; it would be a dream come true as we have always admired Her Majesty the Queen.”

The zoomtastic Zimmers also love Susan Boyle and would love to follow in her talented footsteps by landing a spot in the BGT final.
