Britain’s Got Talent: Simon loves unfunny Gatis Kandis

With funny man David Walliams on the panel this year, scores of comedians are hoping to make the Little Britain star laugh, but when they come face to face with Simon will they realise this is no joke!?

One such auditionee was Gatis Kandis, a Latvian comedian hoping to make it big in the comedy business.

He didn’t get off to a great start when the cheeky chappy admitted he didn’t know who two of the judges were! Although he was looking forward to meeting Simon and guest judge Carmen Electra, it seems David and Alesha aren’t big in Latvia.

The London audience, who had been particularly harsh on some of the other acts auditioning, were not sure what to make of Gatis’ sense of humour.

Talking about the trials of using public toilets, Gatis didn’t exactly have them rolling in the aisles, but perhaps it was the cringe worthy nature of his jokes that amused Simon, who chuckled away through the auditions.

Simon said: “What is going on here!? You are the funniest unfunniest comedian I have ever heard in my life, I mean absolute rubbish but it actually really, really made me laugh.” Gatis replied: “That was my aim to make you laugh!”

Comedian David Walliams agreed saying: “It was so bad that it was actually brilliant.”

Simon told him: “You mustn’t change, seriously you mustn’t change!”

To which David joked: “Not even the jumper!”

With three votes it looks like the nation’s unfunniest funny man has made it through to the next round.
