Emmerdale's Steve Halliwell admits things get worse for Zak Dingle

Emmerdale star Steve Halliwell has revealed that his character Zak Dingle has some dramatic scenes coming up.

Zak has been in a downward spiral for some time after his attack on son Cain (Jeff Hordley).

It gets worse for Zak next month as he wanders out into the moors and starts having hallucinations.

Halliwell told Inside Soap: "Zak drives out into the wild countryside, but he gets confused.

"He fantasises about loved ones who are long dead and starts talking to them.

"Zak gets progressively worse and thinks Cain is looking for him, trying to kill him."

He added: "It gets very tense up high on the rocks.

"While we were filming, I had to wear a safety harness because it was so windy - we nearly got blown away!"

Zak's ordeal comes after he has lied to his family that he has terminal cancer, to cover up the fact he is mentally ill.

Discussing Zak's decision, Halliwell said: "He knows that something is wrong with him, but he's not accepting that it might be in his mind.

"Zak isn't the kind of man who could admit to being mentally ill, so keeps it to himself."
