12-year-old Lauren Thalia wowed the Britain’s Got Talent judges on Saturday night with her unique rendition of Soulja Boy’s Turn My Swag On.
The little lady with the big voice, and even bigger guitar, started singing at the age of three, but began to properly pursue her passion at the ripe old age of eight, taking up guitar lessons so she could write her own songs.
Having previously auditioned for BGT before, Lauren felt that at 12, it was her time to shine, after gigging in her local town to gain as much experience as possible.
And it clearly paid off as the judges loved her, with David Walliams likening her to a young Alanis Morissette – praise indeed!
But it was Simon Cowell Lauren was desperate to impress and he certainly seemed to see the potential in the pint-sized singer.
He said: “I like it when kids your age choose the song rather than your mum and dad choosing it for you.
“I like the fact your guitar is too big for you that you couldn’t play it that well and that there was a little break in your voice, as actually it made it more believable. And because you’re posh and talking about Swag, I like it even better.”
Speaking after the show, Lauren was clearly delighted to have received four yeses from the judges and she is now focusing on perfecting her performance in a bid to make it through the next round.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to the next round and fingers crossed I get through.”
