Strictly speaking, Alesha Dixon thought her days judging ballroom dancers were over, but tonight she was pleasantly surprised when dancing duo Kai and Natalia took to the Britain’s Got Talent stage.
16-year-old Kai teamed up with 15-year-old Natalia after auditioning for a partner.
The judges asked him how many girls he tried out (so to speak) and he told them “ten or eleven.” David Walliams joked: “Sounds like you Simon!” Moving on…
Natalia left her family behind in Cyprus to move in with Kai and his family in the UK, so they could dedicate their lives to their gruelling dance training schedule, practicing every single day after school and college.
But would such commitment be worth it?
After performing a sexy, sizzling routine to Christina Aguilera’s Show Me How You Burlesque, David said: “I was worried when you started. I thought ‘do I really want to watch people do ballroom dancing?’ There’s some show on BBC 1, I’ve never watched it…
“But I think you two are fantastic dancers, I mean really, really great.
“I was utterly mesmerised. I think you’ve really got a place in this competition. It’s fantastic.
Former Strictly champ and judge Alesha Dixon said: “Do you know what I really loved about you guys was that it felt age appropriate. There’s this perception with ballroom that it’s stuffy and old and actually what you just did there was really modern and current and fresh. I wasn’t expecting to like and I actually I really, really did. You’re fantastic dancers.”
Amanda Holden, agreed: “It was brilliant, your footwork was perfect.”
Over to Simon. He told the talented teens: “I’ve got a real feeling about you that you are going to make something with your lives, for real hard work, focus. You look great you’re very, very commercial, but I think what I want to see if something I’ve never seen before if you make it through. Something trend setting.”
With that, Kai and Natalia got four yeses from the judges, much to their delight.
Speaking after the news, Kai said: “It’s amazing – didn’t expect such great comments from the judges.” It just goes to prove, practice makes perfect. Oh, and FYI, they're not dating!
