Good news antiques lovers – BBC Two has commissioned STV Productions to make a second series of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.
20 x 60” episodes – double the amount of the first celebrity series – will be produced for peak time broadcast on BBC Two later this year.
The first series of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip aired in October 2011 and proved a hit with the viewers, almost doubling the slot average.
The new series will follow 20 pairs of antique loving celebrities as they set off on a nail-biting road trip across the UK, competing against each other to make the biggest profit buying and selling antiques.
The famous guests are yet to be announced, but following on from Terry Wogan and Bond girls Honor Blackman and Britt Ekland last year, it promises to be an all-star line-up.
Each celebrity will be teamed with one of the show’s much loved regular experts, whose knowledge and experience will guide the would-be bargain hunters through the antiques trail, giving them the best possible advantage in the competition.
Liam Keelan Controller of Daytime and Early Peak at BBC said: "I'm delighted the audience has taken Celebrity Antiques Road Trip to its heart and made it a great success in the BBC 2 schedule. We're looking forward to many more famous faces careering around the countryside in search of a profit."
Wendy Rattray, Creative Director at STV Productions added: “Antiques Road Trip has proven to be must-see TV in the BBC2 schedule and we’re thrilled to be delivering a second and longer instalment of the celebrity version for peak time. It’s fantastic to have such a successful returning series come out of Scotland, which really seems to have struck a chord with viewers.”
