Westlife star Kian Egan has revealed that he prefers Britain’s Got Talent to The Voice.
The singer, who is a judge on Irish musical talent show The Voice of Ireland, told The Herald that he is a big fan of Britain’s Got Talent, and although he enjoys watching The Voice, he thinks that it’s too similar to X Factor.
“I watched it [The Voice] last week and it’s quite different,” he said. “It’s a bit more like X Factor I thought, with the big storylines and stuff like that.
“I also thought the coaches are a bit bitchier towards each other, which obviously makes for good TV. They’re a bit more at each other.
“They’re at the exciting stage that we were at when this [The Voice of Ireland[ first started, and now everybody’s used to it in Ireland. Although I thought it was good, I prefer Britain’s Got Talent myself.”
Kian has become firm friends with his fellow judges on The Voice of Ireland - former Corrs singer Sharon Corr and Irish crooner Brian Kennedy – with the three of them performing together at one of Sharon’s concerts last month.
Tweeting abut the performance, Sharon wrote: “Wey hey Voice Band sings again. @KennedySinger @KianEganWL @nbrez will perform with me at my Pepper Cannister gig Dublin March 23!! #fb” [sic].
The Voice of Ireland has reportedly been beaten in the ratings war by The All Ireland Talent Show.
