We’re only one week into Britain’s Got Talent 2012 but a stand-out act has already taken the world by storm – Jonathan and Charlotte.
The pop / opera duo blew the judges and audience away with their stunning audition on Saturday night’s show and now the bookies are tipping the singing stars for the top.
According to paddypower.com, Jonathan and Charlotte are 5/2 favourites to win the series, with Only Boys Aloud second at 8/1 and heartthrob Sam Kelly in third place at 10/1.
Jonathan Antoine has been dubbed the new Susan BOYle (there’s always one each year) due to the fact he’s not your stereotypical, perfectly groomed, pop wannabe.
When the curly haired 17-year-old stepped onto the BGT stage with 16-year-old friend Charlotte, Simon Cowell said: “Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse…”
But just as with Su-Bo back in 2009, Mr Cowell was forced to eat his words.
Jonathan and Charlotte delivered a jaw dropping, powerful performance and stunned Simon said: “OK, this is what I think - Charlotte I think you're good, but Jonathan you are unbelievable. I mean, seriously, you have an outstandingly good voice.
"I like the fact that this works as a duo but I worry Charlotte whether you're gonna hold him back."
Jonathan refused to ditch his friend, saying: "Well we've come on here as a duo and we're gonna stay here as a duo."
Alesha Dixon, commented: "It's not very often that that happens, that you can move an audience like that - You sing beautifully together. It was world class."
David Walliams was also impressed, saying: "A pop voice and an opera voice together, it was incredible."
It seems the rest of the world agrees as the clip of Jonathan and Charlotte’s audition has had over 4,500,000 views on YouTube.
But there’s still a long way to go in the series and week two, tomorrow night, is sure to throw up more gems. We can’t wait. Tune in tomorrow night at 8 to watch more talented hopefuls take to the stage.
