Dancing on Ice: Matthew Wolfenden books his place in the final

Matthew Wolfenden became the first celebrity to book a place in the final of this year's Dancing on Ice.

The Emmerdale star won an automatic place in the Grand Final after winning the `Ultimate Skills Challenge'.

Matthew was nicely poised following his first round performance to Michael Jackson's `The Way You Make Me Feel', which earned him and pro partner Nina a respectable 27.5 points.

Louie Spence said of the routine: "A fabulous performance.

"When you dance on the ice, it's like you don't have skates on.

"It was fabulous, the light and shade of this was seamless for me."

Matt confessed that he was apprehensive ahead of the solo skating performance.

However, he gave a masterful performance of the 23 essential elements and gained 28.5 points.

This meant that he pipped Chico Silmani to the automatic place in the final by a mere half a point.

Wolfenden told show host Phillip Schofield: "Honestly I think it was the most nerve wracking thing I've done in my life but what a pleasure...and to have Torvill and Dean watching."
