Lorraine Kelly lost three pints of blood in horse riding accident

Lorraine Kelly has revealed that she lost three pints of blood during her recent horse-riding accident.

Last month, the TV presenter needed a transfusion after a horse "stamped on" her.

Kelly called into her Breakfast show Lorraine to tell viewers about her recovery.

She said: "I tried a jump and wasn't experienced enough to get the horse to do it.

"I fell off and, sadly, he trampled on my thigh. Imagine a big horse with an iron-clad hoof, it's almost like a weapon."

Kelly has been training for an event in aid of Sarah Brown's charity PiggyBankKids.

Lorraine has vowed to return to her show as soon as possible.

It was recently rumoured that she was in talks to front the revamped Daybreak.

A source told The Sun: "It doesn't take a genius to realise the answer to ITV's breakfast problems is staring them in the face.

"The audiences go up for Lorraine's slot and the reason for that is Lorraine. She is down to earth and someone British women can relate to.

"Everyone agrees this is something that could work. She was getting well over a million for her show even when Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles were getting just a few hundred thousand for theirs."
