Breakfast TV presenter Lorraine Kelly is recovering in hospital after falling off a horse, leaving her “bruised and battered” but “fine”.
The Scottish star, who fronts her own show, Lorraine , on ITV and STV, revealed that she had attempted a jump for the first time, but the stunt had gone wrong, leaving her with the injuries.
Poor Lorraine was left deep gash causing large blood loss, and had to undergo an operation under general anaesthetic, but said she is doing okay now.
Writing on Twitter, the presenter explained exactly what happened and thanked fans for their support.
“Thanks for your get well tweets. Basically I fell of the horse while attempting a jump for the first time. Unfortunately the horse stamped on my thigh. As a result - deep wound and lots of blood.
“Was treated by fab paramedics in ambulance - then given an op under general anaesthetic at hospital.”
Lorraine added: “Will be in for a couple if days and will take around four weeks to heal but will be back at work before that!
“A bit bruised and battered but fine - just sad I can't complete today's charity challenge.
“Huge thanks to everyone at the scene and the amazing NHS staff- and to you for thinking of me!”
Helen Fospero stood in for Lorraine on her breakfast show today, and told viewers: "I'm standing in for Lorraine today. You might have heard she's had an accident yesterday when she fell off a horse as she was getting ready for a charity event.
"But she's on the mend and if you're watching, Lorraine, this morning we all wish you a very speedy recovery."
