Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson has revealed that she put on weight while starring in the soap.
The 28-year-old actress played tearaway teen Katy Harris in the show from 2002 until 2005, and during her first year in the soap she began gaining weight.
Speaking to Closer magazine she explained: “I’d never lived away from home and I was comfort eating. The attention I was getting made me feel uncomfortable.
“I felt self-conscious having my photo taken with my Corrie friends Tina O’Brien and Nikki Sanderson (who played Sarah-Louise Platt and Candice Stowe) because they were both so tiny.”
Lucy-Jo, who has also starred in Wild at Heart, turned to life coach Deborah Morgan for help in 2009 before her wedding to Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs in Corrie.
She has since slimmed down from a size 14 to a size eight, but her new trim figure attracted lots of Twitter comments when she appeared on This Morning recently.
She said: “It’s all a bit strange really. I’ve been my current weight, about eight stone, since my wedding, but I’ve had a lot of attention in the past few weeks.
“I think it’s something to do with the new pixie-style haircut I’ve had – it makes me look slimmer!”
