TV presenter Vernon Kay has revealed that he’d like to appear as a contestant on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Vernon, who is married to the show’s host Tess Daly, could be lured into taking part, but he has had to play down rumours that he’ll be taking over from Bruce Forsyth when he steps down as co-host.
Speaking to The Sun’s TV Buzz, he explained: “I have never had that conversation with anyone, but I would like to give it a go as a contestant.
“Hopefully that would put all other talk to bed.”
The Family Fortunes host has recently finished filming a pilot for Play Your Cards Right, which 83 year old Bruce used to present back in the 1990s, but Vernon insisted that Bruce had given him his blessing to film the show.
“He said to me, ‘If anyone’s going to do it, it should be you. Give me a ring if you want any advice’,” Vernon explained.
Vernon previously hosted US skating show Skating With the Stars, but viewers struggled to understand his thick Bolton accent.
