Coronation Street star Andrew Lancel has revealed that he’s glad to see his evil soap character Frank Foster getting his comeuppance.
Fans of the soap saw Frank getting away with raping Carla Connor during last week’s trial scenes, but the villain is about to get what’s coming to him as show bosses have confirmed that he will be murdered.
Andrew spoke to Daybreak about how much he’s enjoyed playing such a twisted character and revealed: “It’s been very dark, but one of the joys of it is I’ve always known what’s going to happen to Frank from day one.
“They’ve let me play him as very acceptable and very believable, and that was the point. We didn’t want him to be a moustache twiddling baddie.”
"We wanted Frank to be very accessible and normal, and that's perhaps why people have latched onto the story more than usual. It's gone down an absolute storm, it's been great, and people are still talking about the issue of the story.”
Frank’s true colours are set to be revealed in the aftermath of the trial, and even Sally Webster turns against him when she finds out what he’s really capable of.
With so many enemies, the list of murder suspects is endless, and the police are going to have a hard job finding out whodunit!
Andrew will be taking a break from acting to concentrate on his singing career.
Catch Coronation Street on STV from 7.30pm on Mondays and Fridays and from 8.30pm on Thursdays.
