Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas wants his soap character Jason Grimshaw to have a bit of fun and to enjoy being single for a while.
Jason is set to split up with his girlfriend Rosie Webster this week when she heads for the bright lights of London, and Ryan wants to see Jason playing the field rather than jumping straight into another relationship.
Speaking on TV show Lorraine, Ryan explained: “I just want Jason to have a bit of fun. He’s been tied to that relationship and he always seems to get into relationships too quickly.
“I know the direction it’s going. I’m not allowed to say too much about it, but I know that they’re putting me with [different] people and I don’t know what’s going to happen there, but that should be exciting for him.”
The 27-year-old also revealed that he misses his co-star Helen Flanagan, who has recently left the soap after playing Rosie Webster for 11 years. He said: “In real life, she is the funniest person ever.
“Obviously a lot of people come and go over the years, but when you work so closely with someone… She’s a massive character and she will be missed.
“People like to spread their wings, go out there and see what the real world is about, because we’re in a big bubble in that show. We wish Helen all the best.”
Catch Coronation Street on STV from 7.30pm on Mondays and Fridays and from 8.30pm on Thursdays.
