Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall has revealed that he sees a future for his soap character Tyrone Dobbs and his girlfriend Kirsty Soames.
Kirsty has been causing trouble for Tyrone since the pair got together, but when she ditches him next week after he accuses her of cheating on him, Tyrone is devastated and goes all out to win her back.
Alan explained to Digital Spy: “Tyrone wants to be a married man, have a baby and enjoy a happy family life, but because Kirsty leaves him due to the lack of trust in their relationship, Tyrone wants to pull off a grand gesture to win her back.
“In the end, Tyrone decides that there’s no other option than to get down on one knee! It’s quite a genuine relationship, but one that already had some problems. Tyrone thinks that this proposal could hopefully make some of those problems go away.”
Alan has been a regular on the Corrie cobbles since 1998, and he has really enjoyed his recent storylines with Natalie Gumede, who plays Kirsty. He revealed: “Natalie just fitted in straight away when she joined the show.
“She’s a really nice, placid girl and she’s good fun to be around, so I’ve really enjoyed working with her. The new story of Tyrone’s relationship with Kirsty provides a lot of opportunity and could go in various directions, so it’s brilliant.”
Catch Coronation Street on STV from 7.30pm on Mondays and Fridays and from 8.30pm on Thursdays.
