There’s trouble ahead for Coronation Street’s Tommy Duckworth as his estranged dad Terry is set to make a surprise return to Weatherfield later this year.
Terry, played by actor Nigel Pivaro, was last seen on the cobbles in 2008 when he returned for his mum Vera’s funeral, but he was notably absent when his dad Jack died last year.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine about his return to the street, Nigel revealed: “I’m going to enjoy playing Terry as he rediscovers his roots.
“It’ll be a little sad without Bill Tarmey (Jack) and Liz Dawn (Vera), with whom I’d forged such a strong relationship, but I’m looking forward to creating a new rapport with Chris Fountain (Tommy).”
Terry has never got on with Tyrone, who Jack and Vera treated like the son they never had, and Tommy has never known his dad, so Terry’s return looks set to be a miserable one for everyone, especially since he plans to open a lapdancing club!
Corrie boss Phil Collinson is looking forward to Terry’s return and said: “I grew up watching him duck and dive and breaking his parents’ hearts.
“This time, though, he’ll not only be blighting the life of his son Tommy but the lives of every resident of the Street with a typically audacious scheme.”
Don’t miss Coronation Street on STV from 7.30pm on Mondays and Fridays and from 8.30pm on Thursdays.
