X Factor host Dermot O'Leary has insisted that he is not worried by the axing of his US counterpart Steve Jones.

Last week, Jones confirmed on twitter that he is not returning for a second series of the talent show.

However, O'Leary has claimed he has not been thinking about Jones' dismissal.

He told the Daily Star: "I don't pay attention to the criticism Steve got. That did not bother me.

"I've just come back from holiday and when you are away you realise how inconsequential people's views are."

In January, Dermot revealed that he has not yet signed a contract for the next UK series of The X Factor.

He said: "The next month or so will be telling. I'll either be doing it or I won't.

"You never know. That's the thing working for Simon Cowell."
