Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh (and no doubt Simon Cowell) are celebrating after The X Factor took the title of Best Talent Show at this year’s NTAs.

The singing talent show beat off stiff competition from ratings rival Strictly Come Dancing, Britain’s Got Talent and Dancing on Ice to take the top spot, much to Gary and Tulisa’s delight as they took to the stage to accept the gong.

Dressed in a pink feathered puff-ball gown, winning judge Tulisa said: “Oh my god! This is amazing. I definitely wasn’t expecting this.”

Take That star Gary wanted to thank “the team at The X Factor” because it has “become like a family.”

The judges were joined on stage by 2011 X Factor champions Little Mix, who earlier in the night wowed the NTAs audience at the O2 arena with a rousing rendition of En Vogue’s Don’t Let Go.

Gary added: “Well done to all of the contestants and well done to these guys [Little Mix].”

It has been an Xtra special night for Gary Barlow, who was also given the Outstanding Contribution Award, for his incredible charity work.

Other winners at the NTAs 2012 include Katherine Kelly, who won Best Serial Drama Performance for her role as Becky in Coronation Street, and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, which took the title of best Reality TV show.

XTRA XCITING!

i thought strictly would win top spot at tv awards as x/factor was not up to scratch this year ..it is logical though as young people do not appear to have the interest in ballroom dancing like they used to years ago..
