The Wanted star Max George has apparently begged Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan not to dump him.
Michelle reportedly wants to bring a halt to their romance but the singer is trying to persuade her that their year-long relationship is worth saving.
Max has flown out to America with his band for the next three weeks.
The couple recently decided not to get hitched this year after apparently having a number of rows.
They have recently had a holiday is Barbados but Michelle was allegedly jealous of girls flirting with Max.
A source told The People: "He is absolutely devastated and very, very down.
"He thought Michelle was `The One' and wanted to marry her more than anything.
"They're both young and Michelle thinks it's all been going too quickly. She thought they were getting ahead of themselves so suggested they cool it."
They added: "Michelle was beginning to doubt whether they could be together or not. When she told Max he was heartbroken.
"Now he is doing everything he can to save their relationship. He's been confiding in bandmates and has even shed the odd tear."
A friend of the Corrie actress admitted that she was upset in Barbados by girls trying to talk to Max all the time.
They said: "He is also a bit of a flirt but when Michelle chats to guys he gets annoyed.
"She tried to be reserved on the beach to avoid any attention and make Max angry."
Currently the pair live together in Manchester, but when he returns from the US he will immediately begin the band's UK tour.
The source added: "Tina wants some space, she loves Max dearly so hopefully they can sort their issues out."
