Get your hankies at the ready: it’s time to say goodbye to one of the nation’s favourite soap characters, with an emotional show entitled Farewell Becky, which airs on January 24.
After six year’s in the soap, Becky McDonald will bow out of the cobbles, as actress Katherine Kelly hangs up her gold hooped earrings for the last time.
Farewell Becky will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes access and interviews with Katherine and the Corrie cast, including Simon Gregson and Kate Ford, as the programme looks back at Becky McDonald’s greatest moments and reveals how they came to our screens.
Becky started off life on the Street as a bad girl but quickly transformed into the tart-with-a-heart who was loved by all (well, apart from Tracy Barlow).
Farewell Becky looks at the characters many highs and lows, from finding happiness with Steve, to the heartbreak of not being able to have children.
It will also give an insight into her ‘unique’ wardrobe – an array of garments that would make Bet Lynch look demure.
Katherine’s castmates reveal all about her passionate portrayal of the character and how she was never one to hold back in fight scenes… or the more raunchy moments!
It is tribute to Katherine’s talents that she has been nominated in the Serial Drama Award category at this year’s National Television Awards, alongside fellow Corrie star Alison King. You can watch them in action in the player above.
Farewell Becky airs on STV on January 24 from 7.30 – 8pm.
