Michael Le Vell has paid tribute to his 'Coronation Street' castmates for standing by him after he was accused of sexually assaulting a child.
The 46-year-old actor - who plays mechanic Kevin Webster in the ITV1 soap - was welcomed back to the show after the historic case against him was dropped at the beginning of this month and he is grateful for the support his work friends have given him.
Kevin - who had three months off work since the allegations were brought against him in September - said: "I'd like to thank the public sincerely for their loyal support during what's been a most difficult and upsetting period.
"I also give special thanks to colleagues and ITV for unwavering support.
"I'm delighted to be completely exonerated. It is now my intention to continue working."
The father-of-two - who separated from his wife Janette last year - also thanked the police for the "thorough" investigation they did.
He said: "I would like to give thanks to Greater Manchester Police for the fair, thorough and independent investigation they conducted.I have maintained my innocence throughout and I am delighted to be completely exonerated by the decision that there will be no further action taken in this matter."
