Coronation Street start Andy Whyment has insisted that he will not be wearing lycra or fake tan during his stint on the new series of Dancing On Ice.

Andy, who plays Kirk Sutherland in the Weatherfield soap, has vowed that he will not enter the tanning booth throughout his time on the ice dance contest.

He told Digital Spy: "That's one thing I've said, no fake tan for me, au naturel.

"I've had bets with people, I had a bet with my dance partner that I won't have had a fake tan by the end of it.

"I don't care if I look like Casper the Ghost. Definitely no false tan."

Whyment said that he is looking forward to the start of this year's contest, although he does not believe that he stands a chance of winning.

He is quoted as saying: "People keep telling me I'm better than I think I am."

Andy added: "I'm not amazing, but I can skate."

Dancing On Ice launches on Sunday at 6.30pm on STV.
