Ruby Wax is believed to have pulled out of Celebrity Big Brother, just hours before the new series is set to begin tonight.
The outspoken comedian has never been confirmed for the fly-on-the-wall show, but Wax’s name appeared on a rumoured line-up and she was widely tipped to feature on the 2012 series.
And today former CBB contestant, racing pundit John McCririck, told BBC Radio 5 Live that Ruby has had a change of heart – and decided against appearing on the show.
He said: "I'm very, very sad indeed, I was in the house yesterday doing some filming. One likely contestant was going to be Ruby Wax. I think she would have been fantastic.
"She would have been fantastic. Great comedian. If anyone had taken her on, you can imagine what would have happened. But I don't think Ruby is going in. Very, very sad not to have Ruby Wax in."
Other stars rumoured to be joining this year’s CBB include controversial former X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza, The Only Way is Essex favourite Kirk Norcross, Loose Women star Denise Welch and Playboy models Georgia Salpa and Kristina and Karissa Shannon.
Pineapple Dance Studios’ Andrew Stone and former X Factor favourite Wagner are some of the other possible housemates.
Celebrity Big Brother kicks off on Channel 5 tonight at 9pm. We can’t wait!
