Dancing on Ice: Jennifer Ellison and Matthew Wolfenden favourites to win

Jennifer Ellison and Matthew Wolfenden have emerged as the bookies’ favourites to win this year’s Dancing on Ice – even though the new series hasn’t even started yet.

Mum-of-one, actress Jennifer, who is partnered with Dan Whiston on the ice dancing show, and Emmerdale star Matthew, who is teamed up with Nina Ulanova, will be seen for the first time this weekend when the 2012 show kicks off.

Both Jen and Matthew have been given odds of 7/2 to win this year’s show by bookmakers Ladbrokes, while Olympic skier Chemmy Alcott has odds of 6/1.

Sugababes singer Heidi Range is also a favourite to impress on the ice with odds of 8/1 being offered, while Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter is at 10/1 to win.

On the other side however, bookies are offering early odds that Dallas actress Charlene Tilton and EastEnders star Laila Morse won’t get too far on the show, with long odds of 40/1 and 50/1 offered respectively that the ladies will be victorious.

The brand new shiny series of Dancing on Ice kicks off this Sunday, January 8, when 15 celebrities will strap on skates and show off their skill on the ice - or lack of it.

With a new judging panel - which sees double Olympic champion Katarina Witt and acclaimed chorographer Louie Spence join head judge Robin Cousins - plus new presenter Christine Bleakley join old-hand Phillip Schofield, this year’s DoI promises to be one of the most talked-about yet.

Dancing on Ice kicks off on STV at 6.30pm, before returning at 9.30pm for the skate-off, and runs for 12 weeks.
