In Gervais: Ricky lures Sean Connery
Ricky Gervais is hoping to sign Sean Connery up to star in his latest comedy invention. Sir Sean could feature in the show which is set in a retirement home.
Filming has begun on the pilot for the series, which is provisionally called Derek.
Ricky Gervais has the main part but he would like to cast Sean Connery as his friend.
An insider told The Sun: "They're filming a pilot in London. It's early days but it looks brilliant.
"Ricky is in charge of the project and plays a man called Derek, living in an old people's home, while Sean has been asked to play his elderly mate in the home.
"Ricky is keen to get it in the bag because his sitcom Life's Too Short hasn't been getting great viewing figures."
Sir Sean has just been named as Scotland’s greatest living treasure beating Billy Connolly and Alex Ferguson to the honour.
