When Lorraine met Su-Bo – a meeting of two of Scotland’s National treasures.
Lorraine Kelly interviewed the Scottish singing sensation for her breakfast show this morning and the lovely ladies got on like a house on fire.
Susan explained that her overnight rise to fame, following her Britain’s Got Talent audition back in 2009, was an overwhelming experience.
“It was unusual circumstances; I don’t think it’s likely to happen in anyone else’s lifetime again. I don’t know what I did. Next minute bang!
“When I saw that satellite outside, I though I hadn’t paid my TV license, I though oh no what’s going on here, are they going to dismantle my telly?”
Susan’s sense of humour and down-earth-nature, teamed with her stunning singing voice, have seen her become one of the most successful recording artists in the world.
But the 50 year old will never let it get to her head.
She joked: “I’m no having any botox or anything, nothing tied up at the back either!”
Sudden fame and fortune has not been easy for the unassuming ‘wifey’ from Blackburn to get used to.
Susan told Lorraine: “Fans send me quite a few toys. The letters can tell how much I‘ve influenced their lives, that I’ve inspired them in some way and being an ordinary person, I find this quite hard to take in, but what you see is what you get.”
Ms Boyle may be a global icon, but nowhere is she more loved than in America.
She told Lorraine: “There’s a wee guy going about called Justin Bieber. I want to adopt him. He’s a nice laddie.”
Speaking of nice laddies, Susan recently admitted she would love to find a husband to take care of her and grow old with. “Knowing my luck he’ll probably have one eye, one foot in a grave and be deaf as a door post,” she laughed.
She may get the chance to dine in top restaurants throughout the world, travel to exotic locations and meet some of her heroes, but Susan admits she still misses home.
She said: “I miss my sausages. Plain bread. A piece and sausage,” as us Scots say.
Susan also spoke about the forthcoming musical about her life and her plans for the future, insisting: “I’d like to continue singing and making people happy and I’ll be content with that.”
