Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle will be one of the musical acts performing at this year’s Children in Need, it has been announced.

The former Britain’s Got Talent runner-up will be joined by other big names including One Direction, who will open the Appeal Night programme, and Irish boy band Westlife, who recently announced that they are to split.

“The  Collective” – made up of stars such as Tinchy Stryder, Tulisa, Ed Sheeran and Gary Barlow – will also be at the event, performing the Children in Need single Teardrop.

Susan is expected to sing one of the hits from her new album Someone To Watch Over Me. The star recently wowed with performances of her cover of Unchained Melody on Strictly Come Dancing and the US version of the show, Dancing With The Stars.

Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole, Daniel Craig Jessie J and various other stars will also make film contributions, and Lord Sugar who will enter the Dragons’ Den in The Dragons’ Apprentice. That’s sure to be a must-see!

Other highlights are sure to include the performance of Hey Hey We’re the Monkees by the kids from hit show Outnumbered, The Muppets leading an all-star version of the classic song Manah, Manah, and The cast of EastEnders rocking Albert Square.

And Gareth Malone will lead a 10-strong choir who will link up live with 3,000 children from all over the UK - including Glasgow, London, Cardiff, Bristol and Newcastle.

BBC Children in Need’s annual Appeal Night programme will be shown on Friday November 18, with a regional opt-outs so people can keep up to date with exactly what’s happening in their areas.

Jackie Bird will once again be hosting Scotland’s coverage, with a choir made up of children from all over the country performing on the night.

Meanwhile this Friday, November 4, STV will screen a documentary on the star's rise to fame, called Susan Boyle: An Unlikely Superstar, at 9pm.
