X Factor feud: tension builds between "stubborn" Gary and Tulisa

X Factor judges Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow are hardly on speaking terms, after falling out over their level authority on the show, according to sources.

The judges have always had petty little arguments, but according to sources things have become much more heated in recent weeks, as the tense Live Shows got under way.

Problems have reportedly arisen because Gary, who has taken on the role of “head judge” has slated some of Tulisa’s acts, while the N-Dubz star has criticised Barlow for being too serious.

“The honeymoon period is well and truly over,” a source told Star magazine. “Gary is not happy, and has not taken kindly to a few things Tulisa has said to him on the show. But she thinks he has been acting far too superior, and that he has no right to.”

In recent weeks, tensions have built between the pair, particularly in the first week of Live Shows, when Gary slammed Tulisa’s band Nu Vibe as acting like “five solo artists” – with Tulisa retorting that he was “mental” for having such as opinion.

According to the insider, the pair clashed and things just got worse and worse over the course of the night.

“It was tense between them after filming ended. They were snappy with each other and Gary was overheard saying he didn’t appreciate being called ‘mental’ on liver television in front of millions of viewers. It seemed too personal.”

And it seems that neither Gary nor Tulisa is ready to back down – something which is sure to cause a few headaches in the next few weeks.

“Gary and Tulisa are both stubborn and competitive. So they were always going to clash on this show,” the insider added.

“Tulisa thinks Gary feels she is too young for her opinions to matter as much. She plans to show him she is just as knowledgeable as he is.”

And it’s not just this pair that are at war; stories have recently emerged that the other two judges on the panel, Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh, are barely speaking after a “furious row” at the weekend.

Come on guys, it’s time to kiss and make up!
