Susan Boyle was given a standing ovation after performing her new hit, a cover of Unchained Melody, on last night’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Britain’s Got Talent runner-up performed a spine-tingling rendition of the classic hit, on the results show.

Wearing a sparkly black dress, Susan looked poised and elegant as she showed off the impressive voice which has seen the Scottish star achieve fame all around the globe.

Professional dancers Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace also performed a romantic dance routine, complementing Susan’s vocals.

The performance came as the bottom two couples – Nancy Dell’Olio and Anton du Beke, and Dan Lobb and Katya Virshilas – awaited their fate.

And it was the turn of tennis star-turned TV presenter Dan Lobb to leave the contest, becoming the second celebrity to be booted out of Strictly Come Dancing 2011.

Former MP Edwina Currie was the first to leave the competition last week, and now just 12 stars continue in the hope of winning this year’s glitter ball trophy.
