STV confirms end of the road for The Hour

STV is to stop broadcasting magazine show The Hour after a switch to a weekly format was unable to attract new viewers.

The show, which was hosted by Michelle McManus and Tam Cowan, moved from a daily teatime show to a weekly 8pm slot on Tuesdays.

Elizabeth Partyka, deputy director of channels at STV, confirmed on Thursday that this week's show would be the last for the time being.

She said: "Television is all about taking risks and experimenting with programming and our schedule. On this occasion, the show isn't delivering the ratings that we expect.

"We're delighted with the performance of other STV shows including Scotland's Greatest Album and we'll be confirming plans for 2012 programming later this year."
