Susan Boyle gave a stunning performance on last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars, as the Scottish star showed off the voice that catapulted her to overnight fame.
SuBo, who was the runner-up on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, was performing her cover of Unchained Melody as the celebrities nervously awaited their fate.
One of the songs from her new album Someone to Watch Over Me, Susan gave a passionate performance of the classic hit. Raphael Saadiq also appeared on the show with his rendition of Soul Man.
This year’s series of Dancing with the Stars features celebrities including former chat show host Ricki Lake who has been teamed up with Derek Hough, and fashion expert Carson Kressley, who is partnered with Anna Trebunskaya.
Last year Susan was forced to cancel a planned appearance on the dance show, after being stuck by a throat infection, and was replaced by Michael Bolton – so it was no doubt important for her to make a big impact on the stage last night.
It was an exciting day for Susan yesterday, as she also announced that she is to join the cast of I Dreamed A Dream, a musical about her overnight rise to fame.
The show, which begins an 11-week tour in Newcastle in March next year, stars Scottish actress Elaine C Smith in the lead role. I Dreamed A Dream is touring across the UK and Ireland, with Scottish dates in Aberdeen and Inverness.
Show producer Michael Harrison said: “She (Susan) is an inspiring woman and her story is an excellent one to tell - someone with a raw talent who surprises the world and overturns all the odds to make a new life for herself.
“It's got all the qualities of a fairytale, but with the added bonus of being absolutely true. I am looking forward to the tour very much."
