Ahead of her headline performance at Clyde 1 Live at Glasgow’s SECC, we caught up with Jessie J to get the lowdown on her fans, MOBOs and what it was like being part of this year’s X Factor.
Looking stunning in denim fringed hotpants, a leather bomber and gold Doc Martins (we want in the office), Jessie was every bit as glamorous, gorgeous and good fun as she seems.
Loving her “heartbeats”, she beamed with delight as she told us: “I’ve just been serenaded by my fans at the gate.”
Jessie J is one of the most-in-demand artists at the moment and fresh from picking up gongs at the Digital Music Awards this week, she is nominated for a staggering 5 awards at this year’s MOBOs, which take place on Wednesday night, again at Glasgow’s SECC.
The Price Tag singer said: “I can’t wait. I am so excited. It’s just overwhelming to have that amount of support.
“I’ve not even been out a year, to have the fans vote and having five nominations – I hope I at least get one as it would be nice to have a little friend for my BRIT!”
Nominated for Best Newcomer, Best UK Act, Best Album, Best Video and Best Song for number 1 single Do It Like a Dude, we don’t think Jessie’s BRIT award will be lonely for long.
Aside from the music, we will see Miss J (not the one from America’s Next Top Model) hit our screens tonight when she joins Tulisa Contostavlos at X Factor Judges’ Houses this weekend.
“I’ve got to take the evening out and just sit and laugh at myself,” Jessie said.
Did she enjoy the challenge of whittling eight groups down to four for the live shows? She smiled: “It was really, really lovely. It was really fun and Tulisa is amazing. I think she’s a great judge role and I kind of wanted to be there as a helping hand.”
So any clues as to who is going to go through out of Chasing Keys, Girl V Boy, Nu Vibe, Estrella, 2 Shoes, The Risk, The Lovettes and Rhythmix?
“There’s a few that are great but I’m not going to name anyone cause mystery is a great thing.” Oh Jessie, spoil sport!
She might not be giving any names away but the star does think the groups are in with a shot this year.
“I think that a group could win this year with the right mentor which they have, Ms Tulisa. I think it’s going down: Kelly, Louis watch out.”
Finally Jessie spoke about her recent announcement that she is going to chop off her hair for charity.
If she can raise 1 million pounds, she will get rid of her trademark locks and donate the cash to causes close to her heart. There’s certainly something X-tra special about Jessie J.
IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY
