Simon Cowell is rumoured to be planning a new reality TV cooking contest, which has been described as an "X Factor for chefs".
Sources close to the entertainment mogul told a tabloid newspaper that Simon is planning to launch a "MasterChef-style franchise".
An insider told the Daily Star that the 51-year-old has "high hopes" for the show, which may even be on our screens as early as next year.
A source told the newspaper: "It is a really exciting new project and one of several being worked on by Simon's production team.
"It will be on screens soon."
They added: "Simon has always been really keen on the idea of a cooking show and wants it to be his next big thing."
However, the insider stressed that Cowell will have to ensure that the format of the new show is different from Master Chef to avoid a copyright row.
Cowell was sued by American Idol boss Simon Fuller for allegedly copying aspects from the format of his show when he launched The X Factor.
