Tam Cowan has been unveiled as the brand new presenter for STV’s The Hour, when the show returns in a new primetime slot tonight, September 20.
The comedian, broadcaster and journalist joins TV favourite Michelle McManus for the new-look show, which is on STV every Tuesday at 8pm.
I'm chuffed to be joining The Hour,” Tam said. “I love doing live shows and this will be a huge thrill.
”I'm also looking forward to teaming up with Michelle McManus at long last as she owes me 25 quid for all the text votes I sent when she won Pop Idol!”
Michelle added: “I can’t wait to get back in the studio this week. We have a fresh new set, a new primetime slot, great live music from some of the best bands around, and lots of fantastic celebrity guests lined up; a perfect mix for Tuesday night viewing this autumn!
“I look forward to saying ‘welcome back’ to all our regular viewers and I hope we’ll be joined by a whole new audience in our brand new evening slot.”
Each week the dynamic duo will invite high profile celebrity guests and musicians to the show for exciting interviews and performances.
There will also be entertaining features, cooking and variety acts every week on the live show too.
Kicking off the first episode of the brand new-look series of The Hour tomorrow is musician Julian Lennon, who is joining Michelle and Tam to talk about his new album, Everything Changes – and treating viewers to a special performance.
As John Lennon’s eldest son, Julian will also get the honour of seeing some rare archive footage of The Beatles from their appearance on popular STV chat show Roundup in 1964.
Also appearing on the first episode of the new series of The Hour are the stars of the BBC Three show The Real Hustle, who will be talking about the most common scams on the go and how to avoid being caught out.
Throughout the show viewers can log on to The Hour’s website to take part a live chat, and immediately after the main programme at 9pm everyone can join Michelle and Tam for an additional live online show, featuring exclusive web features, more live music and viewers’ questions for the celebrity guests.
The new series of The Hour returns to STV on Tuesday September 20 at 8pm and is sponsored by Meccabingo.com.
