Cheryl Cole has allegedly said that she wants to quit showbusiness.
The singer's former minder Craig Balkam claims Cheryl was "torn" between her desire to break into the US market and her struggle with the pressures of fame.
Cheryl quit The X Factor to take up a judging role on the US version of the show, however she was axed after only two auditions.
Discussing her time in Los Angeles, Balkam told the Sunday Mirror: "Cheryl kept saying she wanted to get out of showbusiness.
"She said that she had enough of being a prisoner in her hotel room. That was a phrase she used a lot."
He added: "She said she wanted to be a normal person again. But at the same time she was very keen to crack it in America - as though she was torn between the two."
The bodyguard claimed that Cole had begun to empathise with Britney Spears, who went through a dark period as the pressure of fame got to her.
Craig added: "She used to talk about Britney Spears. She kept saying that she wanted to help Britney - that she thought she could become like a big sister to her and make her normal again after all her crazy behaviour."
