Steve Jones has claimed that he is still in the running to land the role as host for The X Factor USA.
The TV presenter hinted he could present the American version with a co-host, possibly Nicole Scherzinger.
Discussing his chances, Jones told Metro: "Still in the mix. From the meetings I've had about it, I'm still there.
"Whoever Simon [Cowell] takes on board will be the right choice... The man's a genius."
Talking about Scherzinger, he added: "She's a great lady and she'll do a fantastic job."
It was thought that Dermot O'Leary was the only British presenter on Cowell's shortlist.
Jones said: "I know for a fact Dermot wasn't the only British presenter in the mix."
The former model previously admitted he would "love" to join the show and said his Welsh accent would not be a problem.
He told Digital Spy: "When you are on TV there is an element of the 'presenter voice' and you have to annunciate and speak crisp and clear."
Earlier this month, O'Leary announced he was out of the running for the US X Factor role.
