Dancing On Ice boss Christopher Dean has said that Jason Gardiner "went too far" during his on-air spat with Karen Barber.
The former Olympic champ told Radio Times that the outspoken judge often courted controversy.
Thousands of viewers complained to show bosses when the Aussie made bitchy comments about the head judge during a live episode.
Dean said of the incident: "Sometimes he crosses the line and that was one of those times.
"He went too far."
Jason recently confessed that he "regrets" his live TV spat with Barber.
He told Jeff Brazier on This Morning that he wished that had handled the outburst in a more professional manner.
Jason admitted: "The `Karen Incident' was a regret because it has quite a real on-air spat.
"Nobody wants to go into their work environment and have a barney with their co-worker.
"I did attempt an apology but that sort of went down like a cup of cold sick."
Brazier asked Jason: "How is your relationship right now?"
Gardiner replied: "What relationship, it is non existent and we don't talk."
